The Hundred Betting

The Hundred is the England and Wales Cricket Board's 100-ball competition, played by eight city teams across four weeks of the English summer. Men's and women's matches are staged at the same ground on the same day. The 2026 season closed on 16 August with both finals at Lord's. For a bettor the interest is not the novelty but the arithmetic: 100 balls instead of 120, a 20-ball cap per bowler, a 25-ball powerplay and a five-ball tie-breaker all shift the base that totals, bowler and match markets are priced from.

The Hundred Betting

Straight answer: The Hundred's 2026 season is finished. It ran from 21 July to 16 August 2026 and both finals were played at Lord's on the same day, with Manchester Super Giants taking the men's title and Trent Rockets the women's. Trent Rockets also collected the Hundred Helix, a combined men's and women's trophy introduced for 2026. There are no live Hundred markets again until the 2027 competition. What is worth knowing now is the format, because a hundred-ball innings prices differently from a T20 innings in five specific ways, and three of the eight teams changed their names in 2026.

Where the 2026 season left the competition

The sixth edition ran from 21 July to 16 August 2026 across 68 matches, 34 in each competition. Eight teams played four home and four away games: one against every other side, plus an extra derby against their nearest regional rival. The top three then went to the knockouts, which is the first thing that separates this from most franchise tournaments — second played third in an eliminator at The Kia Oval on 14 August, and the winner met the league leaders in the final.

Both finals were held at Lord's on Sunday 16 August, the women's from 14:15 BST and the men's from 18:00. Manchester Super Giants chased down Trent Rockets' 158 for 8, reaching 162 for 5 with two balls to spare, for their first men's title. In the women's final Trent Rockets bowled Sunrisers Leeds out for 91 and won by eight wickets with 46 balls unused, also a first. Trent Rockets took the Hundred Helix as well, the combined-table trophy new for 2026.

Three teams carried different names this year after equity stakes in the franchises were sold, and this catches people out when they read older previews or an archived odds page.

Individual honours went to Tim Seifert, the men's player of the series with 394 runs, and Annabel Sutherland in the women's competition. Mitch Marsh made the most men's runs with 416; Josh Tongue and Richard Gleeson shared the men's wicket lead on 14 each. Results and champions here were read from the competition's own past-winners page on 10 September 2026.

Five rules that make Hundred markets price differently from T20

Most bettors arrive here from T20 and carry T20 instincts with them. The playing conditions are close enough to feel familiar and different enough to move the numbers, so it is worth being precise about what changes.

100 balls, not 120

An innings is 100 balls delivered in sets of five, with ends changing every ten. That is one sixth fewer deliveries than a T20 innings. Any total you have internalised from T20 cricket is therefore too high before you start, and the shortfall is not proportional either, because the balls removed are middle-innings balls rather than death overs. Match-total and team-total lines have to be read fresh rather than adjusted by feel.

Twenty balls per bowler, not twenty-four

Each bowler may send down a maximum of 20 balls, which is four five-ball sets, against 24 balls in a T20. A captain may use them as five or ten consecutively, their choice. Two consequences follow for bowler markets. A side needs at least five bowlers to complete an innings, so the fifth-bowler problem is sharper here than in T20. And a bowler's ceiling for a wicket market is lower, because there are simply fewer balls in which to take them.

A 25-ball powerplay with two fielders out

The first 25 balls of each innings are the powerplay, and only two fielders may stand outside the circle. After that the limit becomes five. In T20 terms the restriction runs for the equivalent of just over four overs rather than six, so the high-scoring phase is shorter. In-play prices that lean on an early run rate are extrapolating from a smaller and less representative sample than the same prices would in a T20.

A Super 5, not a Super Over

If a knockout match is tied, it is settled by a Super 5: each side faces five balls rather than six. It is a small difference until you are holding a tie-related bet, at which point the settlement rule matters. Check how a bookmaker words its tie and dead-heat terms for this competition specifically rather than assuming the T20 wording carries across.

Twenty-five balls makes a match

For a rain-affected game to produce a result, the side batting second must face at least 25 balls unless the match is decided sooner. That is a lower bar than most T20 competitions set, so a shortened Hundred match is more likely to stand and less likely to be voided. If your staking assumes a washout returns your money, that assumption is weaker here.

Two smaller conditions are worth carrying too. Each bowling side may take one 90-second strategic timeout, but not during the opening 25 balls. And a slow over-rate is punished by removing a fielder from outside the ring for the closing stage, which is a live in-play consideration rather than a footnote.

Betting on The Hundred from the UK

With the 2026 competition complete, the only Hundred markets a UK bookmaker will show now are ante-post prices on the 2027 titles, and those are thin by nature. Squads are not settled, the overseas draft has not run, and a single signing can move a team's price a long way. Money placed in September on a competition starting the following summer is money held for the better part of a year for a price that is unlikely to be the best available.

The competition is well covered when it is on, with matches shown live on the BBC alongside the paid broadcaster, so in-play markets are properly served during the season. That is the period when the format differences above actually earn their keep. Our cricket betting guide covers the market types and bookmaker coverage across formats, and the live betting explainer covers how in-play pricing and suspensions work.

One practical point specific to a four-week competition: withdrawal speed matters more when your betting is compressed into a short window, because balances tied up over a weekend of double-headers cannot be redeployed. Our fast withdrawal betting page compares processing times.

A tournament that stages men's and women's matches on the same ticket, in a format built to finish inside two and a half hours, is designed to be easy to keep betting on. If that has stopped feeling like a decision you are making deliberately, the national online self-exclusion scheme covers every licensed British bookmaker at once, and GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline free and confidentially on 0808 8020 133. Our responsible gambling page sets out the tools worth using before that point.

FAQ

No. The 2026 competition ran from 21 July to 16 August 2026 and finished with both finals at Lord's. The next edition is in 2027, and the competition's own site is already taking 2027 registrations.
Manchester Super Giants won the men's competition, beating Trent Rockets by five wickets in the final. Trent Rockets won the women's competition by eight wickets against Sunrisers Leeds, and also took the Hundred Helix, the combined trophy introduced in 2026.
Three franchises were renamed for 2026 after equity stakes were sold. Oval Invincibles became MI London, Manchester Originals became Manchester Super Giants, and Northern Superchargers became Sunrisers Leeds. The other five kept their names. Older previews and archived odds pages still use the previous names.
An innings is 100 balls rather than 120, each bowler is capped at 20 balls rather than 24, and the powerplay lasts 25 balls with only two fielders outside the circle. Totals lines sit lower, bowler markets have a lower ceiling, and early run rates are a smaller sample to extrapolate from.
A result stands if the side batting second faces at least 25 balls, unless the match is decided earlier. That is a lower threshold than most T20 competitions use, so a shortened match is more likely to be settled than voided. Individual bookmaker rules still govern how specific markets are treated.
With a Super 5 rather than a Super Over: each side faces five balls. If you hold a bet that depends on a tie or a tie-breaker, read the bookmaker's terms for this competition rather than assuming its T20 wording applies.
Ante-post prices this far out are priced before squads are settled and before the draft has run, so a single signing can move them sharply. Money staked now is held for most of a year at a price that is rarely the best that will be available.
